My journey so far.
My apprenticeship journey has been nothing short of exhilarating and transformative. From the application process to my first solo shift, every step has been a valuable learning experience.
The application process was rigorous but rewarding. It tested my aptitude, driving skills, and commitment to the role.
Once accepted, the training was comprehensive and well-structured. Learning the ‘ins and outs’ of operating a bus safely and efficiently was both challenging and fulfilling.
Passing my driving test was a moment of immense pride and… relief! It marked a significant milestone in my journey and boosted my confidence.
Route learning was key and required attention to detail and a good sense of direction.
Mentoring was an important part of my development, as experienced colleagues guided me through the nuances of the job, offering valuable insights and support along the way. Their encouragement helped me navigate the challenges of shift work and working with the public.
Adjusting to shift work was initially challenging, but I’ve grown accustomed to the rhythm of early mornings and late nights. Interacting with the public has been a highlight of the job, allowing me chat with people from all walks of life and have a positive impact on their day!
The company provided resources, guidance, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Workshops have been brilliant, I’ve really enjoyed them. Looking ahead, I see a bright future with Go North West. I plan to continue growing within the company!
